In this 3-hour PCIT CE Program, Certified PCIT Global Trainers (Dr. Cathy Roring and Katie Smith, LCSW) provide real-world examples to explore the application of specific ethical principles to the practice of PCIT. This program will describe how to utilize a 9-Step Ethical Decision-Making Model to interpret, problem solve, and evaluate ethical dilemmas that might arise during the course of PCIT treatment. Presentation topics include competency, multiple relationships, resolving ethical issues, privacy and confidentiality, supervision issues, and the termination of PCIT therapy. Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, you should be able to: • Identify the most common ethical complaint filed with the ACA • Identify 3 steps in the Ethical Decision-Making Model used to interpret, problem solve, and evaluate ethical dilemmas that might arise in PCIT therapy • Describe one example of a dual relationship which may arise in PCIT treatment • Explain the difference between being a PCIT Trained Therapist and a Certified PCIT Clinician • List one pitfall in bartering for clinical services with a PCIT client • Describe how to ethically discharge a PCIT family from services following APA and NASW guidelines
