In this 1-hour PCIT CE Program, Certified PCIT Global Trainers (Drs. Shannon Bennett and Amber Farrington) provide an overview of PCIT 7+, an adaptation of PCIT for children between 7 and 12 years of age. This program is designed for “seasoned” therapists (ideally Certified in PCIT) who are interested in working with older populations of children. Participants will learn how PCIT 7+ overlaps with and differs from traditional PCIT services. This program will discuss how to tailor strategies and techniques in the intake, teach sessions, and CDI and PDI coaching sessions to manage problematic behavior in school-age children. Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, you should be able to: 1) Identify at least two ways in which the daily homework differs with PCIT 7+, as compared to traditional PCIT with children ages 2-7 2) Identify at least three additional activities that are appropriate to use during the daily homework for PCIT 7+ 3) Describe at least three cognitive changes and at least three aspects of social development that typically occur during middle childhood 4) Explain at least three ways in which caregivers’ use of the PRIDE skills may differ in PCIT 7+ 5) Describe at least two ways in which children are increasingly involved in PCIT 7+, as compared to traditional PCIT, during each phase of treatment (intake, teach sessions CDI/ PDI coaching sessions)
